[Just outside of town, far enough away from the throng of people who populate Laventa sits a young Ghetsis, covered in bloody gashes and yellowing patches of forming bruises. His hands, cut up and bleeding, are busy trying to fend off a Deino that seems intent on taking a chunk out of his arm.

No worries, folks, he knows what he's doing, really.]

[ This... doesn't look good. On the one hand, you're an ass, but on the other, you're kinda get chewed up by a Deino. And that's bad... even if Ghetsis kinda deserves it in her mind.

Hm... a Tunderbolt should get the Deino's attention, but then there's the problem of jerkface getting shocked along with it. And she should (probably) avoid that. ]

I can't! [He protests, hands locked onto the dragon's jaws to keep them away from his face. Stepping back would require extricating himself from beneath a bitey dragon, which is by no means a small task.]

[The dragon lets out a yelp of pain and lets go, subdued for the moment as he regains his senses.]

Sure, and you totally had everything under control, right? [ She smirks, but there's differently a serious tone in her voice. ] Well whatever, just give me your hands.

He stares suspiciously at her hands, refusing to move. She bit him last time, and he's had just about enough of being bitten today.]

[ Oh come on, it was that one time! She doesn't normally bite strangers, honestly! Unless they deserve it, and you kinda did.

With an exasperated sigh, Rosetta forcibly grabs his hands and closes her eyes. Her hands then start to glow faintly, and Ghetsis' wounds slowly begin to heal. ]

[ Luckily, this time Chloe's got enough brains not to yelp or anything. Even she knows how dangerous Deino can be, and making one aggravated isn't on her list of things she wants, plans, doesn't mind or would do if needed.

... But leaving a stupid kid her sort-of-a-boss alone with a hungry Deino isn't a thing she wants to do and ughhhh

sniff sniff oh, what is that tasty smell? Thoroughly distracted, blinddragon lets go of Ghetsis's arm to investigate that fruity scent emanating from this other human over here.

Bratboss just gives her a look somewhere between incredulity and relief, unsure which emotion to feel.]

I'll just pretend berries are actually A Thing in Unova for now, the game isn't really clear on that

[ SORRY GHETSIS she's not a hero she's a mom. That's kind of worse because that means you'll be receiving a guilt-trippy lection on how you should be more careful because people are worried about you and blah blah blah later. When she's done with your Deino, anyway. Or Deino with her.

Speaking of Deinos, how good is their sense of smell again? Can they smell fear? Nervousness? Because that's pretty much what she's experiencing, holding out the food for Deino to reach - with the tips of her fingers even, ready to draw them back as quickly as possible the second Deino decides fruits aren't enough for a well-balanced diet and adding some meat to its today's meal won't hurt.

She concentrates all of her attention on the bitey Pokemon for now, praying to... about everything you can pray to that Deino will be satisfied with just the berries and pastry. Feel free to... continue staring and not being helpful, Ghetsis. ]

Or just say they're A Thing on the floating island.

[Oh yes, they can. Fear is such a wonderfully spicy smell.

A few steps away, and the dragon makes a leap for the dangling food, not giving one care to whether or not it gets fingers in there.

And as soon as sharp teeth latch on, Ghetsis tackles the dragon, pinning it to the ground as it flails, jaws snapping at empty air.]

[ Oh man, she'll need to remember to stay away from your Deino. She's already scared of Stoutlands, and violent biting dragons are far worse than any Stoutland can get.

Thankfully, her reflexes are fast enough for her to jolt her hand away, pretty much throwing the food into the Deino's... face? muzzle? whatever, but not fast enough to completely get it to safety. And while the uniform's gloves help (those are more durable than they look), at least a couple of her fingers got bitten - well, at least not bitten off. She yelps with shock and pain (mostly shock, really) and cradles her hand- before noticing what you are doing.

[Just be glad it hasn't evolved. Yet.

One dragon successfully pinned, Ghetsis sits triumphantly on his back while he waits for the bitey murderbeast to calm down. Really, adrenaline is the only thing keeping him conscious at this point because that's an awful lot of blood.]

[ Flail flail, and a look of fear on her face. WHAT IF THAT THING BREAKS FREE oh god ]

[Too bad, guess who's going to have a Hydreigon? Which will gouge out his right eye and just generally fuck up his entire right side.

Ghetsis straddles the thing and pins its head down, preventing it from opening its mouth to bite in retaliation. After about a minute of squirming, Deino eventually calms down, conceding defeat. Only then does Ghetsis pull its ball from his belt and recall it, falling to the ground on his butt in the process.]

Phew! That was... something. [Why is everything blurry when he moves his head?]

Chloe finally catches her breath and, standing up hesitantly, walks over to you. Your murderbeast won't suddenly get out of its ball, right? Right? ]

That wasn't something, that was dangerous! What were you thinking, deciding to train a Pokemon this violent?! You couldn't find anything that is MORE likely to eat you during training or what? I was worried sick when I saw you just... feeding your arms to it!

Deino was my starter, and I'm training him because he's strong. [Those gashes? A pretty common occurrence, judging by his lack of a reaction.]

I'll get it through his thick skull that I'm the boss one of these days. [Even if he has to bite it back to prove a point.

And now that the adrenaline is wearing off, he swoons, feeling rather woozy.]
