The Grand Opening
[A large WELCOME sign is hanging from the buildings when you walk into Levanta Town, but that seems to be the only sign that today is any different than any other day. The villagers are simply going about their daily business. However, if they are approached they are more than happy to explain the region as well as they can to any new arrivals.
Welcome to Levanta Town in The Drifting Land!]
Welcome to Levanta Town in The Drifting Land!]
why are all Harmonias here SO YOUNG
uh I mean
She'll just be looking very, very tense there. Almost like she's scared of you (which is the case, because they tell stories about you, Ghetsis. Not openly, though, but you wouldn't really find a Plasma grunt who wouldn't be scared of upsetting Ghetsis.) ]
N-not personally, sir! My most sincere apologies for waking you up, but I would advise that you don't sleep in the field. There are much better places for rest in the town...
To mess with your head.
Okay, so this lady, who apparently got lost on the way to a ren faire, is fussing over him? Why?]
Huh? I can sleep wherever I want. [Teenage defiance, go! He'll just cross his arms and stare up at her as if she'd said something stupid.]
Being a grunt is suffering
Also when you meet Ghetsis, the first thing you pay attention to is that it's Ghetsis. Age is secondary, really.
And she's fussing over you because
that's her lot in lifesomeone has toyou don't just leave one of your superiors lying in the field like all he cares about is getting his clothes dirty and being tripped over. ]... I wouldn't object to it, sir, but there is an inn in the town, and I really do suppose it's more comfortable than sleeping in the field.
no subject
Why do you care, anyway, lady? Trying to get your good Samaritan points or something? [Okay, so yeah, a real bed would probably be more comfortable than the tall grass of this field. Probably safer, too, since... tall grass.]
no subject
No, it's not that-
[ And now it finally gets to her that you are a teenage boy. ]
...
You're not Lord Ghetsis, are you?
no subject
no subject
Okay.
[ That could've been "As you wish, my lord", but... You're a teenage boy.
Kind of an ornery one, too. ]Can I ask... how old are you?
no subject
Of course he is; he's a future megalomaniac, after all.]Sixteen, why? [Aaahahahahaha he's younger than you. Hell, he's younger than N.]
no subject
Also she's at least three years older than you. ]
... No reason. Not at all.
[ How does she even get out of this stupid situation anyway. ]
no subject
Heh, I didn't think I was that famous yet, but you've picked a good trainer to be a fangirl of. I'm going to surpass the champion, just you wait. [Hmm, now where have we heard that one before?]
no subject
Oh god this just keeps getting more and more awkward ]
Well, I... You wouldn't happen to have a twin brother who goes by the same name as you but is significantly older, would you? Or maybe a father.
[ ... Hey, it's still more likely than "you're the young version of Ghetsis she knows", right? Right? ]
no subject
I don't have any brothers, and my dad's never around, but we don't have the same name. [Seriously, are you high?
...It may just be best to accept that this brat is your future boss.]
no subject
... You don't. Huh.
[ Well, it's just that she has this feeling that if she accepts it you'll become her present boss, not a future one. And no one wants ornery teens to be in charge. ]
no subject
But whatever. I guess I'll allow you to be the first member of my fan club. You can even be president, how's that sound?
no subject
... But well, it's not like she can do much about it, and telling you the ~truth~ would just make everything more complicated.
She'll manage a little smile for now. ]
That sounds... nice. But weren't you going to look for the inn? My lord.
[ That last part came after a little pause and a quick "well this totally isn't awkward" sideways glance. ]
no subject
That's right! Er... where was it again? [Ms. Grunt, you're going to have to show him. And hope he hasn't decided you're going to be his personal servant.]
Oh, and because you never told me, what's your name?
and then I spent forever choosing a name for her
[ You probably have decided that, though. ]
The inn is located in the town nearby. I'd asked the locals, and it shouldn't be too far away from the entrance. Should... I guide you there?
no subject
[Yes. Yes he has. Good job.] Yes, do that. I'll follow you. [He'd thank her, but he's Ghetsis.]
no subject
[ There's a tiny bit of smug in her voice now. She does have a nice name, wouldn't deny it! Sparkle sparkle.
... Except the whole "personal servant" thing suddenly makes everything worse. Ah well, maybe she'll think of something to do about it.
Aaaand walking! ]
Have you been here for long? Have you visited the town yet?
no subject
Follow, follow~ He locks his hands behind his head as he walks, occasionally glancing about when he spots something interesting.]
No, not yet. [Let's just go ahead and say he's already had it explained to him by someone else who's tripped over him today.] What do you know about it?
no subject
Well, I've asked the commoners... Apparently it's a town on a floating region. It's not that big, but good enough- there are some quite nice shops down the main street, for example. [ She goes shopping for clothes after she's done with you, that's final. ] The plaza is big enough for large crowds, and there's a Pokemon Center as well. The inn is on the main avenue, too, so it won't take too long to get there. There's also a shrine of some sorts... and beyond the town lies the unexplored land.
[ That last part's going to get your attention, isn't it. ]
no subject
Oh, heck yes that grabs his attention. Unexplored land means potentially new and never-before-seen Pokémon, along with who knows what else. You are the best guide, and Ghetsis thinks he will keep you. He also like the whole 'Lord' and 'commoners' thing you've got going. Keep doing that.]
Hmm... Is there a league, do you know?
no subject
... And maybe she should just let you wander out in the unexplored land and be done with this, but why does she have this feeling she'd have to come with you. ]
Oh, I'm afraid not, sir. A disappointment, isn't it? Weren't you going to beat the champion?
[ ... She might sound a bit snide there. ]
no subject
This news does disappoint him a bit, yes. But on the other hand, this is a completely new and exciting experience.]
I can beat him when I get back. [He shrugs, rather excitedly staring out toward the unexplored land.] Until then, conquering this unexplored region is my top priority.
no subject
because he's too stupid to learn how to cook. You're lucky she's better at it than she is at being a Pokemon trainer.... Well, that kind of sounds like the Ghetsis she knows. ]
If I might add, my lord, there is a possibility of a champion appearing here, too. It looks like there are all sorts of people here.
[ Also your top priority right now should be finally getting to that inn. By the way, the town's entrance is real close already. ]
(no subject)
let's pretend my descriptions of the town are accurate
Okay!
