The Grand Opening

[A large WELCOME sign is hanging from the buildings when you walk into Levanta Town, but that seems to be the only sign that today is any different than any other day. The villagers are simply going about their daily business. However, if they are approached they are more than happy to explain the region as well as they can to any new arrivals.

[She studies the Samurott when Hilbert lets her out, smiling fondly. Still as commanding a presence as ever, despite her nature. Hilbert's question makes her lean back and frown, stretching her arms over her head and mess with the ends of her put-up hair, thinking.]

There's no way that could be. I mean, two Cherens? Can you imagine? All those lectures... [Not groaning, no. They were interesting, and he taught them so simply, and they were pretty handy for battling, but... Cheren lecturing.] I wouldn't mind two Biancas, though. She's a great shopper.

[ Red may have failed to notice Leaf was standing right next to the Pokecenter. She was looking rather nondescript, though, just lazily sitting on a bench with her Wigglytuff to her side, using it as a pillow so she could play with her DS. ]

[ew, winter. That is the worst season of them all, because it's cold. Cheren makes a face at the thought of some other region with horrible winters, because ew.]

Why anyone would want to live somewhere with horrible winters, I have no idea.

[but away from winter and back to Pokemon. Pokemon are much nicer.]

I get the feeling Flying-types might be rather common around here. Even if the Pokemon are frightened by all of the new arrivals here, they're bound to come out eventually, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

[Hit the nail on the head. Zorua grins and flicks his tail back in forth, wiggling out of N's arms and prancing around Paul. The yaps should sound mocking enough. Looks like the sock's on the other foot, jerk! We've got you right in the hot spot!]

Zozo notices things about humans more than I do, even if he's kind of mean about it. My reason is because I'm going to be a hero, so what's yours? [Look, friendlier. Even a little smile. Even if it's kind of... stilted. Not that he's stopping his Zorua.]

I think most trainers would be! Isn't exploring and going on a journey part of training Pokémon?

[so many willing participants, so little time! Also don't mind Chandelure as she floats on over. Though Chandelure is more unnerved about arriving here than Shauntal, seeing all these new people is kind of interesting for her, too.]

You're a new arrival here, as well, right? Would you mind telling me where you're from, and what you felt upon starting this new chapter in your life?

[Red stops and tenses from seeing someone approach him so quickly, but slightly relaxes after realizing it is the boy who challenged him (and won) not too long ago on Mt Silver. Red notices that Pikachu is crouching a little more defensively on his shoulder waiting for his response. As much as Red loves a good battle, this is not the best time. He hopes that isn't what the younger trainer came to him for.]

Uh... Yeah... It's been a while... [Well, nuts, Red was never good with names. Now that he thinks back on it, he also used an Escape Rope before asking who it was that defeated him.] This might sound weird, but what's your name?

Red! [She'll cheerfully bound up to him.]

Taking a break from exploring. [No seriously, he still hasn't figured out that he's not still in Unova.]

[Red might notice that this Ethan looks a fair bit older than he did when they battled the last time. The oddities don't stop there, however, as he frowns mightily at Red's question.]

What? It's me, Ethan! You don't remember?

[COME ON RED you're harshing his buzz. ;; How could one of his heroes not remember him sob]

Battling. [He didn't have a "journey" like other trainers. He just kinda got two Eevees and trained them enough when he was younger.]

That's the only way I trained them.

[Red turns quickly at the voice. Apparently, he had focused so much on his inner thoughts of trying to make sense of things that he practically misses Leaf. Pikachu pipes up cheerfully and waves to Wigglytuff. Red sighs, relaxing his shoulders from his initial surprise and comes over to sit down next to her.]

Yeah... Normally I know where I'm going, so I don't know how I came here... wherever 'here' is. [He leans his head back while still looking at her.] How did you get here?

[Whoa what even is this thing... Wes is looking at it, kind of interested. At least, it's more interesting than this place is, for him.]

I'm from Orre. I felt annoyed. [He still kind of does, but eh.]

Already! How long have you been in this region?

[Pokemon are definitely much nicer. Hilbert's just dressed for winter.]

... Oh, they are, huh? I guess you'd think that, being in the sky and all... [Urg. Flying-types. Big, mean, nasty birds that peck you if you try and capture their brethren or stumble too close to their nest as a child. Making a kind of unsure face, totally unconvincingly happy tone. Except for the Dragon part.] I hope they come out soon, I'd love to meet them all! Maybe we'll even see some Dragon-types.

[Bianca was starting to get a little worried when she arrived here and wasn't too sure what to do. At first, she started to panic and thought that maybe it must be better to ask someone for help. Thankfully, she just found Cheren in time]

What do you mean by that? [Although she hasn't really seen much of this place just yet...] Don't worry about me, I'll be fine!

Sorry, I'm not good with names... [Ah right, the trainer might have said something like that before they had fought, but it was kind of hard to hear over the sound of a blizzard. Oh well, Red will remember it now. He feels a little bad that Ethan seems offended but maybe he'll cheer up if Red buys a soda later or something.]

Hey, uh, Ethan, how did you get here? This island, I mean. [He points down to the ground.]

[She's in the middle of jotting down notes on some of the people she's seen around when a familiar face catches her eye. Younger than when she saw her last summer at Caitlin's villa. How odd.]

[Yes, yes, yes, this is all very good. Especially the part about Pokemon, since Trainers and Pokemon together make the best stories. There is a lot of potential in this! She's silent for a moment after Hilbert is done talking, making sure she's written everything she needed down.]

In other words, clash of ideals: one side favoring separation, the other favoring togetherness, both looking out for the best interests of Pokemon and humans, as well.

I suppose as a Trainer, one would be naturally predisposed against Team Plasma's teachings about releasing Pokemon, but only those that truly care for their partners can admit that they understand Team Plasma's point of view, flawed as the overall picture might be.
