[Typh's obviously got the lead on him, having already bolted when he saw something dashing away across the meadow, but Ethan's got pretty quick legs himself for a non-Pokémon and is definitely putting them to the test.]

[the hat doesn't seem to know where it's going...this way and that--MAN did your hat always have yellow legs?

Watch it throw itself into the air and straight into someone's legs in what looks to be a headbutt. Ash stumbles a bit but picks it up, looking confused. Then he looks up--OH GOD DON'T CRUSH HIM TYPHLOSION]

[asldkajsdf sorry Ash, you are about to be ~~BLASTING OFF~~ tossed a few feet into the air by an orange and blue blur that totally did not see you coming in time. ;;

Ethan screeches to a stop in front of the chaos, wide-eyed and momentarily forgetting about the hat in favour of helping up the poor guy. Typhlosion, having finally stopped a few meters away, looks sheepish.]

Oh man, sorry about that! You okay?

[did anyone catch the number of taurus that just ran by? thanks...

Dazed, he accepts Ethan's help, stumbling around with the hat and small yellow pokemon in hand. Then he grins nodding, giving a thumbs up. He's totally fine.

Here's your hat though. Scraggy's his]

--oh, hey, thanks!

[Ethan takes the hat and dons it in his usual fashion, feeling significantly less naked, then turns back to Ash and... what is that.]

Is this your Pokémon? I don't think I've ever seen it before! [He crouches down, staring at Scraggy in fascination.]

[Stares.

Stares.

HEADBUTT.

It's surprisingly gentle but Ash quickly pulls scraggy back with a silent yelp and sheepish laugh.

Scrawling on his note pad.

'Yeah, it is. This is Scraggy, he's from the Unova region']

[At the headbutt, Ethan nearly falls over and finds his momentum by jumping back up instead with a small laugh of his own.

He's pretty curious about the notepad, but he figures Ash has got his reasons for it. He won't pry, for now! He sends a grin down at Scraggy after reading the note.]

Scraggy, huh? Seems like a pretty cool dude. [And then his interest perks again for a different reason and he looks back at Ash.] Wait, did you say Unova? I've never met anyone from Unova before! I'm Ethan, of New Bark Town in Johto!

[Putting scraggy down so he can go investigate typhlosion, he shakes his head.

'Actually I'm from Pallet Town, Kanto. But I'm traveling through Unova right now. I'm Ash, it's nice to meet you']

[Typhlosion's throwing a pity party for himself in the shade of some trees. Drama queen.

Ethan looks even more excited at the Pallet Town news. Mostly because he was sure he had met everyone who lived there, but evidently this wasn't the case!]

Pallet Town, really? No way! Did you know Red when he was younger, then?

[Tylphlosion huh? YOU'RE NOT SO TOUGH. ~~GENTLE AS A FEATHER~~ HEADBUTT.

Ash takes a moment to think before shaking his head.

'I don't remember any Reds living in Pallet Town']

[Typhlosion doesn't even notice until he happens to look down and sees the little yellow thing. He points at himself with a paw, confused. Did you poke me?

Ethan blinks a few times, frowning.]

Really? But everyone knows who... huh. That's kinda weird. [Oh well. Things'll explain themselves eventually. Maybe Red or Green or Leaf will show up and clear up this thing themselves. He shakes his head and flips his frown upside-down.]

Anyway, it's nice to meet you too! How long have you been here? I just, uh, dropped in myself a little while ago.

[FIGHT ME. ANOTHER HEADBUTT THAT IS LIKE A POKE.

...please don't fight him.

Ash looks sheepish. 'Same here. Walked out of my treehouse and well...']

[Typhlosion tilts his head. A fight? But their trainers are busy talking. It's probably not a good idea. :( He pats Scraggy on the head, which could easily be construed as a super aggressive... HEAD PAT attack if you were one to be riled up easily.

Ethan nods quickly in agreement.]

Strangest thing, huh? I mean, we could've landed in worse places. This island sounds kinda cool. But I don't even understand how this thing is floating in the sky to begin with. [He peers ahead at the clouds that are much closer than they usually are.]

[...unfortunately, he is. TRYING TO ATTACK NOW.

'Yeah! It really is cool! I was thinking of going exploring but I need to find all of my pokemon first']

[Typhlosion falls over at the attack, no matter how weak, mostly out of completely not expecting it. 8( scraggy why so violent you crashed my pity party!!! meanie!!

Ethan looks concerned.]

You lost your Pokémon? Man, and I thought losing my hat was trouble. [Out of paranoia, he pats his belt--yep, all six (including Typh's typically empty ball) are still there. He'd have been a pretty terrible trainer if he hadn't even noticed they were gone.] D'you need any help looking?

[DOES THAT MEAN HE WINS. YEAAAAAAH VICTORY.

ash maybe you should but scraggy back in his pokeball.

Ash grins and nods! 'Help would be great!' and grabbing his pokedex, he points to the entries of all his pokemon that were still missing: Tepig, Snivy and Krokorok]

[H-Hey, that was not cool little bro. Typhlosion rolls over and gets back up, sending their trainers a shifty look, before puffing the tiniest Flamethrower in the world at Scraggy. Maybe that'll teach the aggressive thing a lesson. >:(

Ethan, unfortunately, is too distracted by Ash's shiny pokédex to realize what's going on over there.]

Wow, they're so cool! I can't wait to see them in person. They can't have wandered far if you just got here, right? Hmm...

[Finally, he straightens and peers around, only then noticing the BIG FIGHT happening by the trees. Uh oh.]

[bro.

that scraggy was only a baby :(

he collapses in a heap.

'Yeah, I figured they must have gotten out of their pokeballs and wandered off when I got here'

---SCRAGGY! Telepathically shouting to his pokemon. OH MAN. He's just going to return Scraggy to his pokeball before he can deliver another headbutt. Sorry about that, Typhlosion]

[Typhlosion instantly feels terrible, even moreso at Ash's dismayed reaction, and whines apologetically at him. He couldn't help it! He thought his tiny flame would startle Scraggy at best, but evidently he underestimated his own power. ;A;]

Typh, man, what were you thinking? He was so young! You know better than to pick on Pokémon that aren't your own size.

[Ethan prods Typhlosion on the nose in exasperated admonishment, prompting the Pokémon to nudge at his Pokéball on Ethan's belt and vanish inside of it dejectedly. Shaking his head, Ethan turns back to Ash.]

Sorry he's been so much trouble! I hope your Scraggy's okay. Maybe we should get him to the center while we look for your other Pokémon?

[Ash rubs the back of his head. Oh Typhlosion, Ash doesn't hold it against you.

'Nah, it's not Typhlosion's fault. Scraggy just likes picking fights with pokemon, even if they're much bigger than him' LOOK WHO'S TALKING ASH. MR I'LL CHARGE AT ALL POKEMON, NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

LOOKING AROUND. scribble, scribble, scribble. 'D'you know where it is?'

[Ethan gives a small, grateful smile at Ash's forgiving attitude. It's not often that he runs into genuinely nice trainers--rather, most of them are quick to blame each other for something or other and demand satisfaction through a battle. He still feels highly responsible for not keeping a closer eye on his partner, but he knows all he can do now is try his best to help Ash out!

He glances around himself thoughtfully, before holding up a hand.]

Give me just one sec!

[Without further ado, Ethan hops onto a nearby tree and shimmies up the trunk, settling on a sturdy branch a decent distance from the ground. He shields his eyes from the sun and peers critically ahead. Aha!]

There! Just past the field and into the town a bit. Shouldn't take us too long to get there.

[Except he underestimates the height just a little, and when he moves to hop back down ends up tumbling inelegantly through the grass, covered in even more dirt than he started out with. OH WELL. Hopefully there's a shower in this Pokémon Center too. B|]

[Ash has run into his fair share of jerk trainers but most are pretty nice, he thinks. Then again, this is Ash we're talking about. As long as you're not stealing or abusing pokemon, you've got to be a good guy right?

--oh. That look like that hurt. Holding out a hand to help Gold up. TO THE POKEMON CENTER THEN]

[Ethan accepts the hand gratefully! HE'S NOT USUALLY THIS CLUMSY HE SWEARS IT'S JUST. the gravity in this region. yeah, it's totally different from regular gravity.

Sheepish smile.]

Whoops. My bad. Anyway, to the center!

[He starts traipsing across the meadow towards the town, glancing back at Ash every so often thoughtfully.]

So d'you challenge the gyms and stuff?

[HE FEELS YOU BRO HE FEELS YOU.

Nodding! Holding up his badge case - five from Isshu so far.

'Yeah, 'course! My aim is to be a pokemon master after all']

Whoa, those're Unova badges? They're so different!

[man if only you had all of your badges with you, Ash, and Ethan would suddenly feel Very Small Indeed. he's still impressed, though! also babbling while they walk.]

I've got badges from Kanto and Johto, but it seems like every time I try to travel, something comes up. Hey, maybe there are gyms here! That'd be a great way to get started on exploring this region, don't you think?
