[Ethan is running through Levanta Town with a worried look on his face, looking in trash cans, under stairwells, and into every nook and cranny he can find. While he searches, he's calling as loudly as he can without attracting too many glares from the townsfolk.]

[It doesn't take long for Red to catch up, running side by side. He reaches out, to get a good grip on your collar, or any sort of attire if he can. The little pigs at the bottom are scrambling to avoid the incoming tiles.

It seems Spoink has found a way to manuever up the steps though, but it'll take him a while. Hang on Ethan!!]

There's no use resisting peasant! I can do this all day!!

[Ethan's arm is grabbed! He falls to his knees hard with a yelp, but recovers quickly. Soon his free arm and his feet skitter wildly on the roof as he keeps trying to escape, sending down more showers of tiles.

It's a little weird that Red is calling him a peasant but THERE ARE BIGGER PROBLEMS AT HAND.]

I'm sorry! I'm sorry! You look like, I mean I thought you— [He gasps as he slips, nearly falling flat on his face.] Ow!

[Ethan quickly trots after her and soon matches her quick pace.] I'm from New Bark Town, in Johto.

...Um. Where in Kanto are you from?

[There's a short pause before she answers.] Saffron City.

[Most humans are from his world, don't take it personally. Okay, it is a derogatory connotation, but he refers to most of the species in that manner, so it is fair in a way.

He might just take back those words though. Red didn't anticipate Ethan being so quick on his feet. The chase is going on longer than he wanted, the hold on Ethan's arm proving more a disadvantage.]

[His hand isn't grabbing so hard anymore.]

Hmm, I don't know anybody named Gold. [Considering New Bark has all of ten people in it, this is...really weird. Ethan is quiet as he thinks about this. When Leaf speaks again, he perks up.]

Oh, I go to college in Saffron! I just started at KSU last fall.

[It's hard to imagine "peasant" having a nice connotation! But seriously, Ethan's probably forgotten all about it by now in his SHEER PANIC.

Ethan turns to glance at Red when he hears the change in his voice—]

I'll call you whatever you want just let me go!

[—and yanks on his captured arm as hard as he can, trying to break free.]

[Gasping for air at the same time, Ethan comes successfully out of Red's reach. He doesn't go after him right away, bent over on his knees. He's breathing really loud actually.]

Sorry, Ethan is not observant when badly frightened

[Ethan lunges forward once he breaks free, and sprints away from Red to...the other edge of the roof OH GOD THEY'RE THREE STORIES IN THE AIR. He skids to a stop so hard that he falls backwards, onto his butt.

He turns so he can look over his shoulder with huge, frightened eyes. Red's blocking the only entrance or exit from the roof, what does he do now?!

Oh, right. His hand goes for one of the poke balls at his belt.]

Pecha!

[There's a flash of light and then a furret is standing protectively in front of her trainer, hackles raised and small teeth bared.

It's then that Ethan realizes that Red doesn't...look too great. He doesn't know what to make of that, though. Red's still too close for comfort, in his opinion!]

[Ethan thoughtfully looks at the ground while he processes this. Then his head snaps up—oh! Like that other person who looked like him that he ran into—SUDDENLY THINGS MAKE SENSE.]

Wait, you're from another universe or something, right?

[She glance at Ethan out of the corner of her eye. She's not stopping because he just had a sudden revelation.]

Yes. That's how this place works.

[Idiot, argh. He's slightly confused for a second, nearly backing up over the edge when Ethan brings out Pecha. He's never seen a Pokeball before.

Nonetheless, if he gets defeated by a Furret, he'd never live it down. Red prepares to get up, when Spoink finally makes an entrance, landing on the boy's back with a loud thud. He looks towards Pecha and Ethan calmly.]

There's no need to fight, he will be under control from now on.

[Yes that Spoink just talked.]

[[ooc: you made me do some research for this tag, ahah! This is obviously my headcanon to explain the fact that Sinnoh and Johto have the...exact same battle frontier.]]


[Ethan immediately starts trotting after Lucas.

He laughs at the excitement in Cecilia's voice.] Good luck! Make sure you come when it's open, though. Johto's battle frontier is pretty similar to the Sinnoh one—the same people run it, and everything. During the winter in Sinnoh, they come over to Johto.

[He turns to look at her curiously.] Why don't you like normal battles?

[Ethan's just going to...gape at the spoink.]

You can talk?

[Ethan gets to his feet slowly. Too many crazy things are happening at once, and he puts a hand to his head to try and sort things out. He points at Spoink and Red as he talks to them in turn.]

Wait, you can talk, and—hey, R—[WAIT don't call him that] Um, mister, are you sick?

[Meanwhile, Pecha's going to back up a little towards her trainer, the tension bleeding out of her body mostly, but not entirely. She cocks her head at the strange scene in front of her, and gives a bewildered chirrup.]

[Spoink says this matter of factly, making a mental note to question him later of the norms of this world. He hops off Red, whose face is slumped on the tiles uncomfortably.]

What else does it look like...[inhales sharply]...j-just give it to me already...

[Red motions with his hand to Spoink. The pig reveals a worn out device that looks similar to an inhaler.

Instead of giving it to Red though, he travels over to Ethan.]

I think we should let our new friend decide what you deserve.

He huffs and he puffs?

[[ooc: it took me a second to figure out why Red has an inhaler, but ;AKLSF;KAER ahahahah oh my god you are crazy like a fox to come up with a character this awesome!!]]


...Okay? [I mean, really, what else do you say to a talking spoink? Besides, Red looks like he's melting or something.

When the spoink comes over, it takes Ethan another second to realize what he means. Suddenly, Ethan's eyes widen, and he takes the inhaler and runs over to Red—then hesitates. What if Red keeps chasing him after this?

After a moment to consider, he kneels down and presses the inhaler into Red's hand.


Meanwhile, Pecha is going to sniff curiously at the spoink. He doesn't smell any different? She chirps a cautious hello, wondering if he can only speak people-talk.]

[He nods to himself once, sharply, as things fall into place. Then he realizes he's falling behind, and races to catch up to Leaf again. He's grinning, pleased with himself for figuring it out.]

Breathing issue, and he can't really blow houses down, but he can Roar

[So hasty; he frowns when Ethan rushes over to Red. With a sigh, he notices Pecha and switches to Pokespeak, apologizing to the Furret.

As for Red, he'll just stare back in surprise the whole time, or as much as his face will allow it. He rolls his eyes before activating the device.]

[You might recognize this face. Unlike Ethan, he has all his Pokemon, in fact they follow behind him in a parade fashion.

Beginning at the end, there are three Miltanks, a Houndoom, and a Togetic, who are led by Gold on a Shiny Ponyta.]
