Today, Bianca's having a little picnic on the town's plaza. Her team is free and roaming around, except for Stoutland, who is taking a nap next to her on their big, orange blanket. There's a basket full of berries too, and the Trainer is, at the moment, reading a book about them that she borrowed from the Pokécenter.

But that book isn't the only thing Bianca borrowed. On top of a stool there's a... is that a laptop? Indeed, a laptop it is! And it has a handmade sign attached to its back.

Don't judge her - she's a trainer/researcher-in-making, not an artist.

[Hat-free? How dare you! Samurott approaches Feraligatr to do some sniffing. Hello there, fellow water type.

Bianca quickly puts the book down at the sight of a new Pokémon. ...oh wait, you asked a question.] You never heard of it? It's an electronic Pokémon encyclopedia!

[He digs around in his pockets to pull out his P★DA, handing it off to her. There is a section called "strategy memo" that does list off a huge number of Pokémon, but there's no information on any of them beyond their types.]

I mainly use it for e-mail.

Mmmh? I've never seen anything like it before... [Bianca takes the machine and goes through the menu. Interesting, but definitely not a Pokédex.

She turns it around to see what kind of wires she could connect to it. Juniper has only taught her the basics of updating, so she doesn't want to break anything with her clumsiness.]

Kind of... the Pokédex is more complete - you have all the info about the species. Type, attacks, area... And we use other stuff to communicate. [She shows him the Xtranceiver on her wrist.]

[It's more of a palm pilot than a Pokédex, kind of like her own Xtranceiver, but larger.]

Everyone in Orre has one of these. [And he plucks it out of her hand. It's probably not compatible with the Pokédex, anyway.

Feraligatr allows the sniffing, but flashes a toothy, dangerous grin when it gets a little too close. His trainer catches him before he can do anything more dangerous than look mildly creepy, though.]

Knock it off. [He calls over to the carnivore, who immediately deflates into the crocodile equivalent of pouting.]

[Bianca gasps in surprise at the sudden snatch - not very friendly, are we? Samurott doesn't like the other Pokémon's attitude so he quickly walks to stand next to his trainer. Stoutland is waking up too, taking in the situation.]

Orre...? I-I've never heard of that region. You're a Trainer form there then?

[It also functions as an electronic trainer card. Sorry if he's a little iffy about people messing with his personal ID.]

I see. We're from Unova! My name is Bianca, and these are Samurott and Stoutland. It's nice to meet you and-

Unova and Orre are actually on the same continent, but it doesn't surprise me that you haven't heard of it. [There's nothing there, after all.

Feraligatr flashes Bianca that same toothy grin, to which his trainer shoots the murderbeast a warning look. Don't make him regret letting you out.]

T-they are? I'm very sorry, I've never seen it on the map!

[Samurott walks in front of Bianca in a defensive stand. Don't try anything funny, Feraligatr.] It's nice to meet you, Wes

Sure! Even if I don't think my Pokedex has that many rares in it...
[Which is true. The only oddity is that she's got almost every Legendary 'seen' in it, even the non-Unova ones. Hm.
Meanwhile, her Emboar is looking at the berries. Drooling.]

[Bianca giggles at the fire Pokémon and gives it a berry.] Here you go, Emboar.

Berries, you say? Kayu is a big fan of berries. Don't ask where the little Growlithe learned to read but here he is, someone's Pokedex in his mouth. His tail is wagging happily, both paws on the stool. The curious canine Pokemon is a hungry and highly curious fellow.

He's also nosing at the basket, searching for Rowap berries or any other sour berry he can sniff out.

Stoutland quickly wakes up when she feels a Pokémon approaching and- oh, hi there fellow doggie. It's nice to meet you, now have a big paw on top of you to hold you into your place. You have to wait for Trainers to give you a berry, now be nice!

"Awww, hello there, you little cute thing!" Bianca puts the book down and starts her adorable job of PETTING ALL THE POKÉMONS. Growlithe's fur was soft and warm, but it wasn't that different from her own dog, so she knows where to put her fingers. "Huh? Is that a dex? Do you have a Trainer by any chance?"

Kayu wags his big fluffy tail and noses the dex into her hand. Somewhere, Black is still searching his pockets for it in utter confusion. He'll catch up soon enough. But for now Kayu will enjoy the attention.

He will whine though, at not getting the berry faster.

Bianca laughs at the whining, and pulls Stoutland's paw off Kayu.

"Alright, alright, calm down there, you!" She picks him up and lies him down on her lap, then feeds him a berry. Stoutland watches with a disapproving face - she isn't jealous, but berries should be earned, not cried for!

"Better now?" Have some more petting, Kayu.

[inthefront]

[Yuki's never seen these Pokemon before, except for Stoutland. He's taken a special interest in Chandelure, sketching the Pokemon on his whiteboard.]

[futureprofessor]

[Chandelure floats towards him and rests on Yuki's head to take a better look at what he's drawing.

Bianca notices this and gives his best apologetic look.] Chandy, be careful! I'm so sorry for her, hope she hasn't burned you.

[He simply opens his mouth into a tiny 'o' when Chandy makes its landing.

Yuki assures Bianca no harm is done, smiling back pleasantly. It's a closed smile and looks forced.]

[If it looks forced, then it isn't a good answer for her. She shakes her head and calls for Chandelure, more determined this time. The ghost, a bit disappointed, obeys and goes back to her Trainer's arms.]

There we go. Sorry again. Are you a Trainer too?

[His eyes follow Chandelure sadly. His eyes flicker fast in annoyance at Bianca for a second, upset at a misunderstanding.

[Still upset? Gosh, what can she do to make it better? She stands up with Chandy in her arms, and approaches Yuki with a worried look.]

[Ignoring Bianca, Yuki takes a deep breath. He walks right up to the Chandelure, lowering his head and starts drawing again.]

[Bianca takes a peek at his work. She looks impressed.] Wow, you're really good at this! I should've asked you to make the sign, hahaha.

Oh. I'm sorry! But I think your art totally communicates plenty. [Chandy agrees with that.]

[He hesitates, and seeing Chandy's reaction, Yuki calms down.
